Jess & Patrick, Boston Bombing Victims

Jessica and Patrick Downes near the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, with her service dog, Rescue, in Bethesda, MD, on December 12, 2014. Both are still recovering from their injuries sustained in the bombing at the Boston Marathon on April 15, 2013. Each of them sustained injuries requiring the amputation of their left legs. However, Jessica's recovery has continued to be painful and difficult. She is considering becoming a double amputee as a remedy. For The Boston Globe
