Marcus King, left, and Abi Ortiz, volunteered at an emergency food distribution for unemployed casino workers in Atlantic City, New Jersey on Thursday, May 14, 2020. The Community Food Bank of New Jersey organized the event after many of the casinos in Atlantic City voluntarily shut down in early March, leading to a surge in unemployment and food insecurity. The emergency food distribution was paid for by the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA), who approved an additional $300,000 in funding support for in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
